the greatest day ever!

i don't know why, and i don't know how.. but i was randomly spacing out while i was supposed to be reading my psych book for the test monday and then it hit me..

Commander Keen!

if you don't know who Commander Keen is, woah.. you totally missed out on what my childhood was ALL about! ok.. let me explain.. Commander Keen is a 1990 computer game that my brother and i were obbessed with.. we had all of the versions.. so anyway.. it just randomly popped into my head and i, of course, googled it. and what did i find? well first i found a random fan site devoted to Commander Keen.. but then... (imagine a drumroll...) i found www.dosgames.com !!!! its a site with over 300 classic Dos games that you can DOWNLOAD!!!!! so, i baisically went on a downloading spree of all the games that i used to play when i was smaller.. before Windows 97 was even available! these are the games that i got..

  • Commander Keen: Invasion of the Vorticons
  • Commander Keen 4: Secret of the Oracle
  • Commander Keen 6: Aliens Ate My Babysitter
  • Commander Keen Dreams
  • Bio Menace
  • Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure
  • Crystal Caves
  • Duke Nukem 1
  • Duke Nukem 2
  • Jill of the Jungle
  • Math Rescue
  • Word Rescue
  • Nibbler

    and another personal favorite...

  • Hocus Pocus!! (no, its not modeled after the movie..)

sigh.... was that a trip down memory lane!! and now i have all of thoes games on my computer to play anytime i want!!! WOO-HOO!!!!!!!!!

of course there are still 2 games that i remember but i haven't been able to get.. one of them is Alien Carnage. its on the site that i said... but it just won't install on my computer and i tried the other downloading site ( www.3drealms.com ) that i had to use for two of the other games that wouldn't open, but the second site doesn't have the Alien Carnage game. and the other game i don't even know the name of it... but i remember that it was this guy fighting zombies and stuff.. same sort of game that played on Dos.. it had severed hands crawling all over the place and you had to rescue things (either people or animals.. i can't remember) that are trapped inside cages.. and after you advance to the next level, you see the guy doing push ups and the more levels you win, the more muscles he gets and eventually does push ups with one hand... oh yeah.. and his weapon is a sling shot.. does anyone remember this game???

    sigh.. good times.. good times..

i still don't know why commander keen popped into my head, but i'm soooo glad it did!
